We had done Morocco once before with a big operator and spent half of it in a coach park. This was the opposite. Small group, everything explained, and they were honest when something was not worth the detour. The two free afternoons were the best decision on the itinerary.
I travelled alone and was nervous about it. Fatima Zahra arranged everything down to the airport pickup and checked in by message each evening. I never once felt uncomfortable, and I ended up walking the Fes medina on my own by day three, which I would not have believed on day one.

Written from actually driving these routes — not recycled listicles.

Tangier to Chefchaouen is 2h15 each way; Fes is 4h and Marrakech is nine. Real door-to-door times from every origin, and why the day trip is a mistake.

What a Morocco desert camp is actually like — the camel ride, the tents, the bathrooms, the cold at 3am, and the part nobody prepares you for.
Omar Ouhbi·2 July 2026

Is Morocco cheap? On the ground, yes — moving around it is where the budget breaks. Real daily cost bands at three levels, checked August 2026.
